DELIBERATE TRAVEL KIDS

We help kids explore the world through active learning

to help them develop into open-minded, curious,
independent learners

Why we’re different…

Every Country

We learn about a wide range of countries, not just standard tourist destinations. We’ve covered 26 countries so far.

Active Learning

All our teaching materials use puzzles, activities and research tasks. No boring worksheets here.

Difficult History

We don’t shy away from talking about complicated issues, from colonialism to land mines.

Beyond Stereotypes & Basic Info

Kids’ content is often boring, static and steeped in stereotypes. We don’t do that.

Each month we travel to a different country…

…learning about the culture, history, food, peoples, animals and more along the way.

Our next destination is…

Iceland!

The land of snow and ice, Viking warriors,
bizarre foods (fermented shark anyone?) and
a LOT of people who believe in elves…

We teach about the world through our interactive workbooks.

The workbooks emphasize active learning and research tasks for kids - we will often ask them to Google something or ring up a grown up they know.

Each workbook has 6-8 activities. They might include something like…

Navigating around a map according to clues

Reordering a jumbled up timeline

Answering questions about local animals

The best way to experience the workbooks is through our signature product:

Just the Ticket

It’s an interactive learning journey around the world, through our activity books.

Each month your kid will receive a postcard in the mail from a different country, giving them access to the activity book for that month.

This year we’ll be travelling to…

  • Iceland

  • Wales

  • France

  • Spain

  • Morocco

  • Egypt

  • Russia

  • Vietnam

  • Japan

  • Australia

  • Mexico

  • Brazil

There are 3 journey options…

The Full Journey:
12 months

Halfway Round:
6 months

A Mini Journey:
3 months

Everyone travels at the same pace around the world (we’re travelling on a bus after all!).

We’re starting in Iceland in January, but if you join us later in the year you might begin in Spain or Egypt. You’ll just pick up the other countries at the end of your journey.

Exactly how does it work?

Five FAQs

1. Are the workbooks online or printed?

They’re a mix! When you buy a journey you get access to our online platform. Each activity book is online with a printable answer booklet. Kids use both the online materials and the answer booklet to complete the activities.

2. Does that mean we need a printer to complete the workbooks?

Yes it does. We keep our costs down on shipping and printing (which is also better for the environment!) by asking parents to print the answer booklets at home. Each workbook requires around 7 printed sheets. This also allows us to provide the service to anyone around the world.

3. Can my kids share, or do I need to buy a journey for each of them?

Kids can share the membership easily. In fact, we’ve had lots of feedback from parents raving about how well their kids were able to work together in completing the workbooks.

4. What age range are the workbooks for?

For kids aged 6-12.
